About the event
Organising Foundations is a comprehensive three-day workshop for organisers and senior experienced delegates, aimed at broadly developing the skills, knowledge and understanding for effective organising of working people for building and strengthening our unions. The first two days of this workshop are kanohi ki te kanohi, with a short gap to the third day which is facilitated via Zoom. The follow-up session for this course will take place on the 14th of July.
NOTE: This workshop is the first of three courses in the CTU’s development pathway, with the other two programmes being (1) Organising Conversations - Intensive and (2) Developing Workplace Leaders.
Learning Outcomes
Topics covered in the course include:
· Our union history and future challenges
· Organising Methodologies – taking a systematic approach to organising companies
· Being strategic and being tactical
· Planning skills and knowledge
· Research to inform our organising
· Mapping and other analysis tools
Please note that this course is approved for ERE leave (Course 520).
Unions planning to use EREL to send participants to the course must notify the employer at least 14 days before the course start date.
The minimum number for the course to go ahead is 10. Registrations will close 1 week from the course start date (if places are not filled prior).
Unions are asked to register no more than 5 participants per course unless by prior arrangement.
